ripplesMindfulness is a way of paying attention to, and seeing clearly whatever is happening in our lives. It will not eliminate life's pressures, but it can help us respond to them in a calmer manner that benefits our heart, head, and body. It helps us recognise and step away from habitual, often unconscious emotional and physiological reactions to everyday events.

It provides us with a scientifically researched approach to cultivating clarity, insight, and understanding. Practicing mindfulness allows us to be fully present in our life and work, and improve our quality of life.

We meet on the first thursday of every month 7-8:30pm at the Friends Meeting House, 87 Park Street, Bridgend. There is no charge but donations are welcomed.

gareth 2009I had been practicing and teaching mindfulness meditation for a number of years before I became involved with the Breathworks Mindfulness programme in 2006. I began supporting courses and practicing the techniques in my daily life. It became apparent very quickly how mindfulness as taught by Breathworks could help me live my life and help others through becoming a Breathworks trainer.

I became accredited in early 2009 and have enjoyed delivering courses. My teaching style is relaxed and informal and very much driven and inspired by my personal experience of life and the mindfulness techniques used in courses. I have a particular interest in how mindfulness can be taught to and used by those people living and dealing with stress anxiety and depression.

I am constantly expanding my practice of Mindfulness and adding to my qualifications to teach Mindfulness to adult:.I have completed a one year training in Mindfulness and Compassion with the Mindfulness Association, and have been trained by Chris Germer and Kristin Neff to deliver their 8 week course of Mindful Self Compassion (MSC)

I have always wished I had learned to practice Mindfulness when I was much younger and that has led me to train with The Mindfulness in Schools Project in the UK. I am certified to teach the following curricula:

  • .b Foundations for Teachers and Teaching Staff
I adhere fully to the UK Network for Mindfulness-Based Teacher Trainers Good Practice Guidelines and am commited to upholding ethical standards.
